DIY bow-tie

Happy day you all!

Today, I will to share a fun stylish project with you. Wooden bow ties are not only a great accessory to show off at parties, but are also an awesome gift. If you’re looking for something special for that handsome dresser in your family, this is definitely the way to go.

What you will need:

  • 2 mm thick Beech wood veneer
  • Microstone real stone veneer
  • Organoid  scented veneer
  • Fabric and elastic band
  • Hooks and eyes
  • Needle and thread
  • Hand saw
  • Files and sand papers

The Steps:

Design and Cut: Make few sketches and choose the design that you feel right, cut it to thicker paper and use it to draw the templates on our piece of wood veneer. Cut out 2 template of your 2 mm thick wood veneer with your hand saw and cut one one veneer for the surface of your Bow-tie. In this example I use some 0,3 mm quartz stone veneer but you can use organic veneer rather then rich wood veneer that comes in o,5 mm thick layer. Glue those 3 templates together and place them on a curve mold till dried.

Place the fabric strip and band on your Bow-tie: For the fabric that goes around the middle of the bow tie, measure the width of the middle section, double the measurement and add about 1/4″ or so. Sew down the side with the backside facing out. Once it is sewn, flip it right-side out and iron it flat with the seam in the back. Cut your elastic bands to size and add the hook and eye to make it adjustable around the neck, comfortable to wear and easy to take off.

Now it’s time to force your family members to wear the bow-ties in your photos and also make sure to bribe them into wearing them to parties. You never know who may want one.
